Directed Reading Program

The announcement from the DRP committee for Autumn Quarter 2025:

Interested in studying beautiful mathematics? Dig deeper into a mathematical topic you love? Learn mathematics you might not find in a course with peers or a graduate mentor? Then apply to join the Directed Reading Program!

The Directed Reading Program (DRP) pairs undergraduate students with graduate student mentors for independent study projects of various sizes and scopes. Each project lasts one academic quarter. Undergraduates apply, and those who are selected will be paired with groups or mentors according to their mathematical interests and availability.

The structure of this year's DRP is slightly different from previous years- there's now an option to be connected with classmates with similar interests! The DRP program will offer one on one mentoring by graduate students as before. However, this term, to help more students benefit from reading math texts, we are expanding out program to also include graduate students mentoring small groups of undergrads and undergrad only reading groups (co-organized with Math Club). In our application, you will be able to select preferences for these three options

Applications are open for the Fall 2025 Directed Reading Program. The application deadline is Friday, October 10th at 5PM. For more information, see the Student Guide and to apply, visit https://forms.gle/k2D3TS1rC6tx3NL19 .
