This course is an introduction to the topology and geometry of 3-manifolds.

The skeleton of the syllabus is the following.

• Loop theorem/Dehn's lemma, Sphere theorem
• Prime decomposition, JSJ decomposition
• Hierarchies, Haken manifolds
• Thurston norm and foliations, sutured hierarchies
