About Perú

I have had a rocky relationship with my country, but over the years I've come to appreciate and value it. I grew up in Comas, a working-class district of Lima. My family is originally from Amazonas, a beautiful region in the north of Perú where The Marañón river, an important affluent of the the Amazon river, originates. Amazonas is also home of Gocta, the third tallest free-fall Cataract in the world; and of the Chachapoyas culture, a pre-incan civilization called "The warriors of the clouds" due to the many cloud forests present in the region.
Besides family and friends, the thing I miss the most from my country is the food. Peruvian food is an explosion of flavours and colors and in my obviously unbiased opinion is the best in the world.
