Internationally acclaimed opera stars will perform a spectacular selection of beloved arias and ensembles with the Lyric Opera of Chicago Orchestra. 7:30pm, in the Jay Pritzker Pavilion. 9/11 Sunday: Members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at Millennium Park(MOCSOMP) will perform a 9/11 tribute, conducted by William Eddins. The concert program includes William Schuman's arrangement of Chales Ives' Variations on America, Aaron Copland's Lincoln Portrait, and Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade. Senator Barack Obama will serve as narrator for Lincoln Portrait. 4pm, in the Jay Pritzker Pavilion. 9/12 Monday: Steppenwolf Theatre Company at Millennium Park(STAMP) will feature a performance of Studs Terkel's Will the Circle be Unbroken?, with special guest Garrison Keillor. 6:30 pm, in the Jay Pritzker pavilion. 9/13 Tuesday: Art Institute/MCA mega art trip: Tuesdays are free days at the Art Institute, and Tuesday evenings are free at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA)! So we're going to meet at noon in front of Eckhart main (south) entrance, then go to the Art Institute, which closes at 4:30, and then go to the MCA at 5 PM until it closes at 8 PM. Make sure to eat beforehand -- we'll also grab quick food at a restaurant at 4:30. FREE except for what you buy at the restaurant, which should be under $10. 9/14 Wednesday: 9/15 Thursday: 9/16 Friday: World Music Festival at Millennium Park(WORMFAMP). The Mexican Fine Arts CenterMuseum and the Mexican Consulate of Chicago present a tribute to Mexican Independence Day featuring Banda Manzanera, Lila Downs with Mariachi Perla de Mexico and Celso Pina y Su Ronda Bogota. 6:30 pm, Jay Pritzker Pavilion. This performance is part of World Music Festival: Chicago 2005, which features many performances in a variety venues from Sep. 16th-22nd. Members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra will present an additional free concert. Music Director Daniel Barenboim will do double duty in the performance, appearing as both conductor and soloist in one of Mozart's sparkling piano concertos.
