Midterm 1 on Wednesday, Oct 21. Here are some practice problems, similar to what will be on the midterm. This is not a homework assignment: they won't count toward your grade, and you don't need to do them; however, they should help you prepare for the midterm!
So, without further ado: Section 0.2, problems 9, 15, 21, 39; Section 0.3, problems 11, 14, any of 23-28; section Section 1.1, problems 5, 12, 14, 32 (as well as 29 and 30, which have already appeared on homeworks); Section 1.2, problems 1 (you should know the definition by heart!), 12 (also very important!); Section 1.3, try a few problems each from among 1-12, 13-24, and 25-30; Section 1.5, problems 9, 15, 18, 27, 29; Section 1.6, problems 9, 10, 11, 16, 17.

Homework 5 (due Wednesday, Oct. 28): Section 1.5, problems 19, 23; Section 2.1, problem 9; Section 2.2, problems 5, 6, 7, 13, 14, 28.

Homework 6 (due Monday, Nov. 2): Section 2.3, problems 4, 9, 13, 27, 43; Section 2.5, problems 2, 7, 13, 19.

Quiz on Thursday, Nov. 5.

Homework 7 (due Friday, Nov. 6): Section 2.5, problems 20, 23, 25; Section 2.6, problems 11, 16, 19, 22, 29; Section 2.7, problems 3, 5.

Homework 8 (due Wednesday, Nov. 11): Section 2.6, problem 7; Section 2.7, problems 1, 2, 7, 14.

Midterm 2 on Friday, Nov. 13. Here are some practice problems; as before, these are optional and don't need to be turned in, but should be helpful in preparing for the midterm! Also, while the focus will be mostly on things we've seen since the first midterm, the second midterm will be cumulative... so it might be helpful to review the practice problems for Midterm 1 if you feel you've gotten rusty.
Anyway: Section 2.2, problems 3, 4, 8, 16, 17, 25, 26, 41, 42; Section 2.3, problems 5, 6, 8, 28, 30, 39 (and pretty much anything else from 1-44, if you need more practice), 49 (and you should memorize all of the theorems in section 2.3); Section 2.5, problems 3, 4, 8, 18; Section 2.7, problems 4, 8, 9, 13, 18.

Homework 9 (due Friday, Nov. 20): Section 2.8, problems 1, 9, 11, 13; Section 2.9, problems 1, 2, 12, 18.

Homework 10 (due Wednesday, Nov. 25): Section 2.9, problems 23, 28, 32, 33.

Final on Thursday, Dec. 10, from 4:00-6:00PM. Here are some practice problems for topics we've done since the second midterm (to go along with the practice problems for the first two, which are still relevant!):
Section 2.8, problems 2, 4, 8, 17a, 17b, 20, 21; Section 2.9, problems 3, 4, 7, 10, 16, 17, 22, 34.
