CAMP (Computational, Applied Mathematics and PDE) Seminar

The seminar meets regularly on Wednesdays at 4pm in Eckhart 202. We also have special seminars during other days. To subscribe or unsubscribe the email list, you may either go to Camp/PDE email list or contact Cornelia Mihaila.

From heterogeneous microscopic traffic flow models to macroscopic models
In this joint work with N. Forcadel (INSA Rouen), we derive rigorously macroscopic traffic flow models from microscopic models. For the microscopic models, we consider follow-the-leader type models with different types of drivers and vehicles which are distributed randomly on the road. After a rescaling, we show that the cumulative distribution function converges to the solution of a macroscopic model (the so-called LWR model).
February 26
Olga Turanova, Michigan State University, Eckhart 202, 4pm.
Front propagation in a nonlocal reaction-diffusion equation
We consider a reaction-diffusion equation with a nonlocal reaction term. This PDE arises as a model in evolutionary ecology. We study the regularity properties and asymptotic behavior of its solutions.
